Overview:
Join AWS & ASNT on June 17 at HVCC for dinner and a technical presentation on welding, NDT, and U.S. Navy shipbuilding.
Please join us on June 17, 2026, for a joint meeting of the Northern New York Section of the American Welding Society (AWS) and the Mohawk-Hudson Section of the American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT). Our featured presenter, Larry Mullins, will discuss current activities and developments at the intersection of welding, nondestructive testing (NDT), and Navy shipbuilding. This presentation will provide valuable insights into the critical roles AWS and ASNT play in supporting naval construction and maintenance efforts, with an eye toward broadening the role of our societies across the globe.
The event will be held at Hudson Valley Community College, 80 Vandenburgh Ave, Troy, NY 12180 in the Gene Haas Center for Advanced Manufacturing (GHC) Room 204 (GHC204). Doors will open at 4:30 pm, and Dinner will begin at 5:00 PM, followed by the technical presentation at approximately 6:00 PM. Dinner will be available for $18 per person, payable at the door. Please RSVP as soon as possible, as seating is limited.

- September 24, 2025 – The Current State of Knowledge About Our Universe, Dr. Harry Ringermacher, is a Senior Research Physicist Retired from GE Global Research Center. Dr. Harry’s previous presentations on similar topics Have Always Been of General Interest to All.
- October 22, 2025 – Postponed until 11/19/25
- November 19, 2025 – Joop Kraijesteijn, CEO, 3angles. The Art of Magnetic Particle lnspections. This presentation will focus on how this method is used inspecting power generation components in nuclear and fossil power plants.
- December 17, 2025 – Dr. Greg Mohr presents, “Managing Digital NDT Records”. Dr. Mohr consults with the Maritime Industrial Base to accelerate the adoption of digital NDT methods across the U.S. Navy. He currently serves as vice-chair of the ASTM subcommittee on radiography and is a member of subcommittee on Digital Imaging and Communication in Nondestructive Evaluation (DICONDE).
